Chris Hay did not play as expected, due to him nursing a calf knock picked up on Saturday. His absence made way for Scotland U-16 cap Stevie McManus. It was McManus who gave Saints the lead from a Malone cross in the first half.

Mark Ferry headed the second from a McLaughlin cross, to put the game beyond question, in a match where the Saints youngsters had dominated.

Further chances to extend the lead were denied by the woodwork, with Parker and McManus hitting the post. Saints were awarded a penalty with five minutes remaining after Parker was brought down but Mark Ferry's effort was saved.

Saints: Nelson, Baxter, Nicoll, Ferry, Malone, Fraser, Stevenson, McLaughlin, McManus (McCallum 71), Fotheringham, Parker. Subs not used: McKenzie, Moon, Campbell, Shaw.
