New St Johnstone signing Jamie Adams is looking to Murray Davidson for inspiration as he aims to prove himself in the Scottish Premier League.Davidson signed a year-long extension as fellow midfielder Adams agreed a two-year deal after leaving Kilmarnock.
"I believe I have the ability to step up to the SPL," said 22-year-old Adams.
"Murray is the same age as me and a great example of someone who has stepped up from First Division to SPL level and proved he can handle it."
Adams came through the youth ranks at Kilmarnock but made only two appearances during an injury-plagued time with the SPL club.
Instead, the former Scotland Under-21 international had four loan spells with Queen of the South and one with First Division rivals Partick Thistle.

"I played the vast majority of Queens' games from November and felt I proved I could do it at that level," Adams told the Saints website.
"That chance wasn't coming at Killie, so I'm delighted to be here and will try to work my way into the manager's plans and help move Saints into the top six and improve myself as a player."
Adams, who had two operations on a cruciate ligament injury, has now been injury-free for 18 months and is looking forward to a fresh start under a different manager and fresh surroundings in Perth.
"It's great to have the chance to work with Derek McInnes and I'm really looking forward to it," he said.
"It's a new challenge for me and I want to come to Saints and do as well as I can.
"I enjoyed my time with Killie and, although the injury was obviously a blow, I don't feel I got a proper chance at Rugby Park.
"I had three loan spells with Queens, but one of them was wiped out by my injury.
"That was three years ago and I got the necessary surgery, but it still wasn't right and so I got further work done on it 18 months ago and it has been absolutely fine since then."
Davidson joined St Johnstone from Livingston last summer and even caught the eye of Scotland coach Craig Levein during the midfielder's first season in the SPL.
That has now led to McInnes extending his contract for a further year until 2013 and the midfielder is hopeful of making an even bigger impact after putting behind him his own injury problems.
"Some people said I would need six months to settle into the SPL, but I didn't agree and, without being over-confident, I felt I would be able to handle it quickly," he said.
"The groin problem seems to be sorted out now.
"I travelled to Leicester for two courses of sugar injections and they have done the trick and I've been pain-free for the past couple of months or so.
"I would like to get the third and final injection during the close season and, combined with a summer of rest, I'll be raring to go for next season."
