Perhaps Saints could do with another international this weekend. The slimline squad is now suffering from injury problems. The midfield department in particular is struggling to recover in time for the crunch fixture against Ross County.

Though Billy Stark is still hopeful that they will return soon;

"Brian McLaughlin (groin), Simon Donnelly (knee), Mark Robertson (knee), Paul Bernard (ankle and back) and Mark Reilly (ankle) have not trained in the last week and were still on the treatment table today. It could be possible that all of them may be able to train tomorrow, though."

This afternoon, the reserve side are in action against Raith Rovers. Chris Hay is expected to play in order increase his fitness.

On Friday night, 5289 witnessed an incredible comeback by the U-21s against the Lithuanian U-21 team. Lithuania scored via a 30 yard drive that Soutar failed to control, and a penalty mid way through the second period. With 10 minutes left, the young Scots moved up a gear and crashed home two goals to equalise. Two minutes into injury time, and Stephen Hughes smashed a low volley to make it 3-2.

Billy Stark noted similarities;

"It was a typical McDiarmid Park game for longs spells really. The Lithuanians had 11 men behind the ball and Scotland were finding it very difficult. Obviously, I wouldn’t want to see us going 2-0 down in future and leaving it so late, but the way the youngsters kept going was impressive."

The U-21s have been drawn to play Croatia in the play off.
