"It was a very difficult day for us. Brechin are always a hard side to beat at Glebe Park and they'll pick up points off lots of teams here. We were very poor in the first half and reasonably competent in the second. We worked hard and used our bit of extra quality in the one to one situations. Brechin are a handful and I am surprised they have not done better in terms of results. However, we provided the one piece of quality that brought us our goal. It was a great cross from Brian McLaughlin and an equally good header from Peter. We showed determination and resolution to do enough to get a result. We can play a lot better and I am delighted to get the three points."

City boss Dick Campbell was left contemplating what could have been:

"There was nothing between these two except the one goal. I felt in the first half we were the better team but if you don’t take your chances the other side will come back and hit you on the backside. I can’t fault the players for effort but it was another 1-0 defeat to go with the four games we have lost in the last minute. We put a lot into the game and I am disappointed."
