The game started with both sides struggling to cope with the traditional wind at Broadwood Stadium. The home side were almost presented with the first chance when Kevin Fotheringham's pass-back found home striker Aron Wilford rather than the keeper, but his effort was flicked wide.

After 17 minutes the home side took the lead. Ian Harty controlled a long ball and laid it into the path of Darren Sheridan, who stroked the ball past Allan McGregor from 12 yards.

The remainder of the first was a midfield scrap with St. Johnstone looking the more likely to score with Chris Hay somehow managing to hit his own team-mate Peter MacDnald when it looked easier to score.

Referee Dougal also denied Hay. After playing an advantage, he strangely pulled play back as Hay was about to shoot.

The second half was poor fare altogether, although it almost had a scoring start when Wilford burst down the right, but he took the ball too wide and hit the keeper's body from an acute angle.

Half way through, the half home keeper Bryn Halliwell almost misjudged a cross from Fotheringham and was relieved to see the ball hit the bar and bounce clear.

In the end Clyde made sure that St Johnstone couldn't take advantage of the wind in the second half to move joint top of the table with Falkirk.
