St. Johnstone dominated this match but that will be scant consolation for their fans, upset at another toothless display from their strikers who failed to capitalise on a hatful of opportunities.

To add insult to injury for the Perth fans their star turn, Jason Scotland, was sent off for an attempted elbow on Derek Fleming in the 85th minute.

The first half was an ill-tempered affair littered with free-kicks but including a few pieces of genuine attacking skill, primarily from ST. Johnstone's Trinidad international Jason Scotland.

The forward could have had a penalty in the 8th minute when he was felled by Mark McLaughlin.

He threatened again in the 18th and the 27th minute but each time Hamilton's goalkeeper Raymond Jellema was equal to the task.

The Saints fans then thought they had opened the scoring as the first half came to a close when they had the ball in the net in the 43rd minute, but Martin Hardie was correctly ruled offside.

The best chance of the second half came in the 47th minute when that man again, Jason Scotland put Hardie through one on one against Jellema, but again Jellema was equal to the task.

Scotland had another attempt in the 80th minute after turning his marker, but his shot was deflected wide for a corner as Hamilton hung on for a point.
